StockEngine

How it works

From messy wholesaler files to safe, reliable stock.

StockEngine sits between your wholesalers and Shopify. It ingests their files, checks every change, and only applies updates once they’ve passed safety checks and are fully reversible.

01

Ingest

Pull in your wholesaler feed

StockEngine ingests your wholesaler’s CSV or Excel file via direct upload or automated email ingestion. Pre-built profiles handle common UK wholesalers like Stax, Bestway, and Pedigree, while the ingestion engine detects encoding, header changes, and case/inner quantity quirks automatically.

If a file arrives with missing columns, strange characters, or a new layout, StockEngine treats it as a schema change to be reviewed — not a blind instruction to overwrite your stock.

02

Diff & analyse

Review every change before it touches Shopify

StockEngine compares the feed to your live stock and generates a full before/after diff for every SKU. Large drops, sudden zeroes, new SKUs, and mapping drift are flagged as anomalies so you can see exactly what changed and why.

Apply & protect

Sync with a snapshot you can roll back

When you’re satisfied with the diff, you apply the sync. Before a single record is written to Shopify, StockEngine snapshots your current inventory so you can roll back the entire change set in seconds if anything looks wrong.

Every sync is logged with who applied it, when it ran, what changed, and which anomalies were flagged — giving you a complete audit trail for every inventory decision.

Why this matters

Wholesaler data is messy. Your store shouldn’t be.

Wholesaler files come from legacy ERPs, manual exports, and changing report templates. Columns move, headers change, encodings drift, and quantities represent cases instead of units. Traditional import tools treat these files as truth. StockEngine treats them as input to be validated.

The result: fewer oversells, fewer “sorry, we had to cancel your order” emails, and far less time spent in Excel trying to be the bridge between your suppliers and Shopify.
